Polysulphate sales push through to record level

Production and sales of Polysulphate fertilizer have reached an all-time high in response to increasing demand in many parts of the world for this natural, multi-nutrient fertilizer.

ICL Boulby in the UK – the first and only polyhalite mine in the world – reports that the amount of this unique fertilizer, marketed as Polysulphate, sold in March this year exceeded the previous top monthly total by 30 per cent.

Meeting global demand

From the mine, the fertilizer is delivered to ICL Teesport for further processing before loading. In the recent record-breaking month, the port loaded ships destined for other parts of the UK as well as China, Brazil, Spain, Belgium and Netherlands in order to supply the farmers choosing to use Polysulphate on their crops.

Farmer understanding of the benefits of Polysulphate is growing

Examples of the evidence of improved crop growth and yield and increase profitability is being shown and shared with farmers on four continents. As a result, the number of farmers and fertilizer distributors placing orders for Polysulphate continues to increase month on month.

Back at the mine, production is stepping up to meet this demand. Polysulphate production is progressing steadily up towards the target of a million tonnes a year by the end of 2020.
